Preschool Teacher Aide/Assistant - Head Start

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking Teacher Aide/Assistant for our Head Start program in Monroe County. SCCAP is a non-profit social service agency that works to provide opportunities for low-income individuals and families to achieve personal and economic independence.

As a Head Start Teacher Aide/Assistant, you will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate lessons for a group of three- to five-year-old children and providing quality early childhood experiences. You will be responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the program by helping create an environment which fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care. You will contribute to SCCAP and the broader community we serve by working with our youngest participants and help them prepare for success in school and life.

Minimum requirements include:

• High school diploma, or equivalency with no previous experience; or any equivalent combination of education and training.
• Must obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an associate’s degree in early childhoodeducation within two years of being hired.Must be able to work at various sites under different supervisors.
• Must ensure efficient operations and present a professional image in conduct, attitude, and attire.
• Free from Child Abuse and Neglect
• Must be philosophically compatible with the mission of SCCAP.
