South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking a Lead Teacher for the Early Head Start program in Monroe County. SCCAP is a non-profit social service agency that works to provide opportunities for low-income individuals and families to achieve personal and economic independence.

As an Early Head Start Lead Teacher, you will plan and implement weekly and ongoing developmentally appropriate activities and lessons for a group of infants to toddlers with individualized considerations for each child in a classroom setting. You will act as a resource, advisor, and advocate for parents in the areas of child development, health, education, and community resources. You will be responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the program by helping create an environment which fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care. You will contribute to SCCAP and the broader community we serve by working with our youngest participants and help them prepare for success in school and life.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements include:

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential, and have been trained or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to direct the activities of others, provide training and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Bilingual speaking ability a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Dependability, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for child safety and potential emergency situations.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally while multitasking.
